The MP, D. Lortkipanidze initiated performance of the documentary movie “Shindisi Heroes” in the Parliament, attended by MPs and parents of the deceased. The movie demonstrates stories of 17 Georgian soldiers, died in the village Shindisi on August 11, 2008.
The producer and author of the movie is Rustaveli Theatre actor, E. Minashvili. The creative group is composed of: producer Z. Popiashvili, script consultant and editor, A. Morchiladze and script author I. Solomanashvili, consultant and director, R. Chkheidze.
The movie tells the fierce battle of 17 Georgian soldiers and heroism, as well as the village resident, B. Khutsishvili who saved the injured soldiers, taking them from the battle on his own. According to D. Lortkipanidze, Shindisi battle is one of the most dignified episode of August war, 2008. “The engineering troop of the II Infantry Brigade of Armed Forces of Georgia engaged in unequal battle near Shindisi railway station with Russian artillery”. The battle lasted one hour during which the enemy had to twice call for reinforcement. Enemy used all kinds of weapon against Georgian soldiers, including tanks and reactive arms. 17 Georgian soldiers fought till the end.
According to E. Minashvili, NGO “Shindisi Heroes Memorial Fund” will erect the composition - 17-figure portrait monument of 12 meters height by N. Chavchavadze in commemoration of the heroes. After the movie, MPs thanked the creative group and the invited guests. “Everyone wish to be the heroes like your children”, - S. Jachvliani addressed the parents.
