The Speaker, H.E. Archil Talakvadze visited Guria region to attend the event in Eristavi Fortress dedicated to the State Flag Day and deliver the remarks: “January 14 is the State Flag Day of Georgia. The Flag expresses our national and statehood identity. Our Flag unifies the citizens within and beyond the country worldwide. Our soldiers, policemen, athletes, and every other profession wear it with dignity as the homeland and the state is paramount for them. We build the European state based on the national values and traditions where human rights and protected, where rule of law is adhered to and where state institutions serve for the people. It is the type of state we need and we are all responsible to build it”.
The Speaker stressed the fact that for 20 years already the State Flag of Georgia is waving in the line amongst with the Flags of CoE member states and Georgia has assumed the presidency of the CoE allowing us even further contribute to the enhancement of the European values and intensify it at the CoE agenda. It is the greatest mission and Georgia is honored to enjoy it today.
The Speaker thanked the President of Georgia for deciding to celebrate the State Flag Day at this historical place: “Restoration of this palace, this fortress manifests the fact that we are closer back to our history and create the stronger link between our past, present and future inasmuch as no future can be reached without the Flag, identify and culture and it is symbolic that according to the tradition, the Flag is raised by the President of Georgia as the supreme representative of the country and the Flag is also raised by the children at the beginning of the academic year which are the dignified representatives of our future. The Flag expresses not only the state institutions but it belongs to every Citizen and it unifies us all”, - Archil Talakvadze noted.
