The first meeting of the visit was held with the Speaker of Montenegro Parliament, Ivan Brajović held within the bilateral and enlarged format.
The parties discussed the bilateral relations and enhancement prospects of cooperation. They touched upon the inter-Parliamentary relations and the future plans in this regards. The two Speakers dwelt on the democratic reforms in Georgia and Montenegro.
Mr. Talakvadze introduced the essence of the Constitutional reform noting that enhancing the role of the Parliament is a key component for stability of the country and successful EU integration. The parties stressed EU and NATO integration of Georgia and importance of experience of friend countries.
Mr. Brajović reaffirmed support to sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the EU and NATO aspiration of Georgia. The parties agreed on close cooperation and intensive exchange visits. After the meeting, the Speakers made the statements for media.
Mr. Talakvadze thanked his counterpart for support to territorial integrity and Euro-Atlantic aspiration and noted that partnership relations between Georgia and Montenegro will give additional stimulus to the Parliamentary relations. He expressed his gratitude to the Armed Forces of Montenegro for active participation in the multinational military trainings.
“Our culture and history is what defines us. This is something that both our nations cherish. We have many similarities in this regard that can be used as a common foundation for further strengthening people-to-people ties. We are thankful for the engagement of Montenegro’s armed forces in multinational military training ‘Agile Spirit’ which aims to increase interoperability of NATO and partner countries and strengthen the Black Sea security. Accession of Montenegro to NATO is a strong message for Georgia that we are also able to become the NATO member. We are proud that our soldiers stand shoulder-to-shoulder protecting regional peace and stability”, - Mr. Talakvadze noted.
Today, the Speaker and MPs visited the Memorial to the Partisans and laid the wreath.
The Delegation is composed of MPs Tengiz Khubuluri, Edisher Toloraia, Head of Georgia-Montenegro Friendship Group Beka Natsvlishvili and the Chief of the Speaker’s Cabinet Nikoloz Samkharadze.
