The Chairman of Parliament, Mr. Irakli Kobakhidze held the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Mohammad Javad Zarif.
The parties underlined that Georgia and Iran enjoy long-term and productive relations. According to the Minister, the countries have established the close diplomatic and political links during the last 25 years.
The visit of the Georgian PM, Giorgi Kvirikashvili to Iran will facilitate to bilateral relations. The Chairman thanked the guest for support of territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia and underlined importance of inter-Parliamentary relations.
He noted that stability in the region is of utmost importance for cooperation and economic relations of the countries. According to the Minister, Georgia conducts consecutive and constructive foreign policy. The parties discussed cooperation in tourism, transport, agriculture, energy and industry. The Minister hoped that tourist infrastructure of Georgia will further be developed.
The Chairman introduced implemented and ongoing reforms and stated that economic growth of Georgia results from consecutive reforms. He spoke about democratic reforms and underlined that the Constitutional reform provides long-term democratic development of the country.
The parties agreed on cooperation. As the Chairman stated, Georgian Parliament is committed to contribute in enhancement of bilateral relations.
