The Statement by the Speaker

Pursuant to the Law of Georgia on Disciplinary Responsibility and Disciplinary Proceedings of the Judges of the Common Courts of Georgia and in line with the Rules of Procedure:
On September 13, 2017 the Parliament calls the contest for two members of the Disciplinary Board of the Judges of the Common Courts of Georgia. The parliament of Georgia may elect the Georgian citizen as the member of the Disciplinary Board of the Judges of the Common Courts of Georgia with higher education in law, at least 10 years of respective experience, high reputation and recognition as a law major. The Member of the Parliament, Judge and the Prosecutor shall not be nominated as the candidates for membership of the Disciplinary Board of the Judges of the Common Courts of Georgia. The candidates for membership of the Disciplinary Board of the Judges of the Common Courts of Georgia shall be selected in the Universities of Georgia amongst the professors and researchers, in the Bar Association and/or amongst the persons nominated by the Non Profit Legal Entities on the basis of the recommendation issued by the collective administrative body of the respective agency. The Universities of Georgia, the Bar Association and NPLE are entitled as stipulated under the Law of Georgia on Disciplinary Responsibility and Disciplinary Proceedings of the Judges of the Common Courts of Georgia and in line with the Rules of Procedure, till October 3, 2017 inclusive to nominate to the Parliament each candidate per institution for membership of the Disciplinary Board of the Judges of the Common Courts of Georgia. NPLE is empowered to nominate the candidate for membership of the Disciplinary Board of the Judges of the Common Courts of Georgia if within at least 2 years prior to call, representative authority was one of the spheres of activity of the candidate in the proceedings in the Courts. The nomination shall be enclosed with the letter of credence, the working experience of the candidate, the copies of ID or passport and the copies of the higher education diploma and certificate for at least 10 years of respective activity, the list of the papers published on law issues (if such), written consent of the candidate and if the candidate is nominated by NPLE – the certificate certifying that within at least 2 years prior to call, representative authority was one of the spheres of activity of the candidate in the proceedings in the Courts.
