The parties discussed bilateral cooperation between the Staffs of Georgian and Latvian Parliaments. “I have informed Mme. Levrence about my first business communication with my Latvian counterpart in March, 2018 within the IPU meeting in Geneva. My first working visit to Latvian Parliament is scheduled next week within the official visit to all three Baltic countries to hold in-depth discussions on the directions and opportunities of bilateral cooperation”, - G. Mikanadze noted.
He introduced the initiative on establishment of “3+1” format envisaging cooperation of the Staff of Georgian Parliament with Baltic Parliaments.
“Supposedly, we will hold the meeting of the Secretaries General within the new format in the end of the year to discuss multilateral cooperation and joint projects and programs. It is directed to enhancement of our national Parliaments”.
He also introduced the initiative envisaging working meeting of the Secretaries General of EaP network Parliaments and Secretaries General of Baltic Parliaments on the regional level within the bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
Mr. Mikanadze spoke about the reforms in the Parliament and about the experience within Open Governance Partnership. “We have expressed our commitment to share our achievements with Baltic colleagues. There are the real grounds for intensive enhancement of our relations and my visit scheduled for the next week will serve the basis for our future relations”, - he noted.
The Ambassador thanked Mr. Mikanadze for invitation to the Parliament and pledged support in implementation of the initiatives.
“We have informed Mme. Levrence that along with the Ambassadors of two other Baltic countries to Georgia, she will on regular basis receive the information about the steps we make within “3+1” format or bilateral relations. Mme. Ambassador supported this initiative and expressed her commitment for future cooperation”, - G. Mikanadze noted.
