At the introductory meeting, Mr. Mikanadze introduced the reforming in the Staff and the new authorities granted to the Parliament under the new Constitution and the Rules of Procedure.
The reforms aiming at strengthening of the Parliament were positively assessed by the Ambassador. He stated that under the new laws, the Parliament will ensure oversight in more effective manner. G. Mikanadze introduced the initiative to cooperate with the Secretariats of the Baltic Parliaments and spoke about the scheduled bilateral meetings.
“I introduced the initiative envisaging establishment of the “3+1” format – active cooperation between the Secretariats of 3 Baltic Parliaments and the Parliament of Georgia. In this view, the bilateral meetings between the Secretaries General of Georgian, Estonian, Lithuanian and Latvian Parliaments are scheduled in January, 2019 to discuss ongoing reforms, to exchange opinions and information”, - G. Mikanadze noted.
The Ambassador pledged full support to this process noting that existing friendly relations shall be further enhanced on the level of the Secretariats.
The parties agreed on active communication.
