The meeting, which included the Executive Authorities of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, as well as the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and the Representatives of the State Program Enterprise Georgia, focused on the problems and challenges that the women and girls with disabilities face in the country.
“We have covered issues that may be important for women and girls with disabilities, and discussed the specific areas of challenges, as well as the statistics and achievements with respect to the provision of uninterrupted education to the people with disabilities. All of these issues are ultimately connected not only to the proper development of a person but also to their overall health, because, if a woman / girl with disabilities is deprived of this space, a range of social and health problems are usually followed”, - the Deputy Chair of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee and the main rapporteur of the meeting, Rati Ionatamishvili stated.
The Thematic Inquiry Group on Accessibility to Healthcare Services for the Women with Disabilities has been set up within the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee.
The Working Group is supposed to submit its findings and recommendations by the end of November.
