Italian Embassy, Italian National Research Council, Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia and the National Museum of Georgia held the workshop on “Designing and Managing the Museums of the XXI Century”.
The workshop was attended by the Chair of the Education, Science and Culture Committee, Mariam Jashi. She thanked the Italian Ambassador for his contribution in bilateral cooperation and development of relations in culture and cultural heritage preservation.
“We witness unprecedented exhibitions supported by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports and the National Museum hosted by Georgia with the expositions of the leading museums of Italy. Sharing Italian experience for Georgia – experience of the host country of the most extensive list of UNESCO world heritage – is paramount”, - she noted.
According to her, establishment of high technologies is first of all crucial for the students and pupils for increased attraction to the museums with joint efforts of the Education Ministry.
“The number of visitors in Georgia reached the unprecedented scale and naturally, establishment of the high technologies will allow us further increasing attraction to our country. According to the statistic data, more than 75% of the visitors come to see the cultural heritage and hence, enhancement of the museums will have a direct impact on increased inflow of tourists”.
The Committee in cooperation with Georgian historians works on the new initiative envisaging placement of the bilingual informative plates at the cultural heritage monuments to ensure provision of correct information about the monument.
“We also consider extension of bilateral educational programs with Italy for master’s and short-term academic periods. The Committee will at maximal extent facilitate to implementation of such initiatives”.
It is the second workshop from the series “New Technologies and Cultural Heritage: Italian Experience”. It aims at exchange of Italian experience of preservation of cultural heritage.
The first workshop was held on Digital Story-telling in September, 2018 and the third will be held on February 8 dedicated to the “Smart City”.
