The Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Sophio Katsarava participates in the high level Conference of Women Parliamentarians in London hosted by the member of the GB Labor Party, member of the House of Commons, Harriet Harman and the Secretary of State for International Development and Minister for Women and Equalities, Penny Mordaunt.
The Conference being held for the first time is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of suffrage for women gained in 1918.
The GB Prime Minister, Theresa May hosted women Parliamentarians from 104 countries at the reception. “Such high level conferences allow us including Georgia with its achievements and challenges into the international agenda”, - S. Katsarava noted.
She will also participate in the discussion on role of women MPs in gender equality and elimination of violence against women. “It is important that obtainment of suffrage by women in Great Britain and political activities of women in Georgia coincided and started 100 years ago evidencing that Georgia always was loyal to democratic values”, - she noted.
