The Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Sophio Katsarava and the Chair of the Faction Georgian Dream, Mamuka Mdinaradze met with Western Studies Group analyst of the UK Foreign Affairs and Commonwealth Office.
S. Katsarava introduced the activity and priorities of the Committee and spoke about the Committee role in development of foreign policy.
She touched upon the oversight activity and the new strategy of the Committee to be soon finalized. The parties discussed foreign political priorities of Georgia. S. Katsarava emphasized EU and NATO aspiration and the progress so far, restoration of territorial integrity and role of international society in peaceful resolution of the conflict, strategic cooperation with USA, as well as trade-economic relations and free trade agreement with China.
M. Mdinaradze introduced the democratic reforming and emphasized human rights protection.
“We have discussed various issues, including the foreign political priorities of Georgia, Committee oversight spheres, situation on the occupied territories of Georgia and democratic reforming. I am glad that Georgia-Britain relations are active and Britain is interested in developments in Georgia”, - S. Katsarava stated.
