Media and Society 02 Feb 2023
Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee Endorsing 2023 Action Plan

The Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee endorsed the action plan for 2023 in accordance with Article 43 of the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament of Georgia.

According to the Chairman of the Committee, Mikheil Sarjveladze, the action plan contains indicative information on what activities the Committee will be engaged in - "This does not preclude us from being interested in other occasions, pursuits, or initiatives that are not covered by the action plan. Although the main theme will be established through this document, this will necessitate certain revisions and the necessity to redefine the agenda during the year”, - Mikheil Sarjveladze.

The action plan calls for a number of tasks, including: defending and advancing civil and political rights; enhancing socio-economic rights protection; fostering civil integration; facilitating the realization of the individual's right to unrestricted development; enhancing the protection of children's legal status; enhancing safeguards for the protection of women's rights; and enhancing the protection of the rights of the accused, convicted and victims; institutional strengthening of the committee, and implementation of parliamentary control over the state's performance of its commitments under international agreements.
