The Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee discussed the changes to the Environmental Assessment Code

The Committee discussed the Draft Environmental Assessment Code with expedited consideration.


According to the Deputy Environmental Minister, Nino Tandilashvili, Draft aims at the formation of the model of the institutional arrangement and management of the Ministry to ensure maximal efficiency of the environmental assessment commitments and establish the environmental impact assessment system adjusted to the reality of the country and directed to the simplification of the business processes and adherence to the environmental standards.


“The Draft aims at the elimination of the gaps revealed in the practical application of the Code, and improvement of certain terms and regulations to ensure better enforcement of the Code”, - the reporter noted.


As the Chair, Mikheil Sarjveladze noted, the technical remarks will be included in the Committee conclusion concerning the transitional provisions. The Committee approved the Draft.


The Chair congratulated the Georgian citizens on the Personal Data Protection Day.


“This day is celebrated in many civilized countries in view of public awareness to make every citizen take the steps in this direction”, - he stated.
