Agrarian Issues Committee Elaborating on Development of Agricultural Cooperatives

The Committee held the sitting on the "Monitoring the Enforcement Procedure of the Law of Georgia on Agricultural Cooperatives - Implemented Recommendations, Existing Challenges and Future Reform".
"Legislation, current programs, and donor-supported initiatives have laid a solid foundation for us to make some really fascinating discoveries, which we have worked on in the Committee with the Ministry and donor organizations”, - Nino Tsilosani stated, hoping that the reform of the cooperative system will be taken to a new stage, which will further contribute to the development of agricultural cooperatives in the country.
Reports on agricultural cooperation prepared by non-governmental/international organizations were presented to the audience. Vakhtang Mshvidobadze, Program Manager of the Austrian Development Agency, spoke about the impact of projects implemented for cooperative development under the "Austrian Development Cooperation," while Lawyer Mariam Darchia, FinExCoop Georgia Representative, introduced the members of the Committee to the AFD/EU FinEXCoop recommendations on the content of the Law on Agricultural Cooperatives - "Improved Legal Environment for the Development of Agricultural Cooperatives."
Giorgi Khanishvili, First Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture, discussed the success of agricultural cooperation and the implementation of the Committee's recommendations within the context of law enforcement control.
Important and notable topics were found during the meeting, according to Nino Tsilosani, which the Committee will undoubtedly share and transform into a special legislative initiative.
"We will gain a new perspective on the issues, and together with you, we will propel agricultural cooperative growth to a new level”, - the Chair of the Committee stated.
