At the Parliamentary Assembly of NATO the leader of Parliamentary delegation, Chairman of the Faction of Unified Democrats - Giorgi Baramidze has held the briefing. Theme of the briefing was Spring Session of Parliamentary Assembly of NATO, that was held on May 24-29 in Prague.
As Giorgi Baramidze has stated, Coalition of Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia in purpose of joint action for becoming members of NATO of these countries was officially created within the bounds of Parliamentary Assembly of NATO. In the opinion of Giorgi Baramidze it is a very important step in the process of becoming member of NATO, as we will have persons holding the same views in this process by the side and not opponents. Serbia has expressed willingness to join the coalition. It will happen when the country becomes the associate member of the Parliamentary Assembly of NATO.
"On the basis of our sentence the title of the Sub-committee of Central and Eastern Europe of the Political Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of NATO was changed. It was established as Central, Eastern Europe and Caucasus Region Sub-committee, that means that Caucasus Region will become the subject of everyday concern of Parliamentary Assembly of NATO. It is very important, as our European colleagues are mostly not informed about the existing situation in the Caucasus region,” - stated Giorgi Baramidze.
According to Giorgi Baramidze the mentioned session was very important as Parliamentary delegation of Georgia was given chance to make statement about Abkhazian issue and withdrawal of Russian military bases from the territory of Georgia, from the tribune of Parliamentary Assembly of NATO for the first time
