The Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee heard the Governmental Report on Employment Policy Planning and Implementation

The Committee heard the Governmental Report on Employment Policy Planning and Implementation, introduced by the Deputy Health Minister, Tamila Barkalaia, overviewing the steps taken by the state to support the employment sphere.


The Ministry of the IDPs, Labor, Health and Social Protection is one of the agencies responsible for the employment with the LEPL State Employment Support Agency operating since January 1, 2020. The Agency, in line with the developed programs, creates the accessible supportive services countrywide, as the reporter noted adding that the Agency launched various supportive mechanisms in 2021, namely, the job-seekers enjoy the services countrywide, such are consultations and communication with the employer, consultations on career development and supportive employment.


The package also includes the services for the persons with disabilities and persons with special educational needs expressing the will and motivation to be employed. Services envisage an inclusive approach to the seekers, and the active communication with the employers, namely, vocational training/qualification, short courses, consultations, internships, salary subsidies to employ the persons with disabilities, employment forums and engagement of the local municipalities.


The Agency, along with other state institutions responsible for the employment, actively cooperates with the population in view of the promotion of vocational education and facilitation of the development of the professional skills most demandable on the market.


“According to the statistical data for 2021, 8000 persons were enrolled in the program with active labor market policy support, where 3800 were employed. This year, the program already covers 4000 citizens. The new subprogram for employment at the public works has been established. According to the current data, more than 10 000 vacant positions have been registered at the labor market”, - the reporter noted and answered the questions.


The Committee will issue a respective conclusion.
