David Songulashvili: I believe, the greatest success and victory can be achieved only on the basis of a reliable partnership

The Chair of the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee and member of the EU Integration Committee, David Songulashvili participated in the Conference of Parliamentary Committees for Union Affairs (COSAC) in Prague; in his speech, he expressed unwavering support and solidarity to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine on behalf of Georgia.
“First of all, on behalf of my country, I hereby express solidarity and unwavering support to Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. Our country is unfortunately well aware of the consequences of Russian aggression since 20% of our territories are still occupied by Russia! It shall end! In this regard, we can provide the only response, the same we had to the invasion of Russia in Georgia: we strictly condemn the invasion of Russia in Ukraine and the illegal annexation of its regions”.
He underlined the importance of the EU membership for Georgia: “We want to use this new opportunity (European perspective) and side-by-side with Ukraine and Moldova become the EU member state, which requires: development of the connectivity skill between the EU and Georgia, especially in the Black Sea region, promotion of the energy security of Europe and market diversification for stability and energy sustainability. I believe the greatest success and victory can be achieved only on the basis of a reliable partnership”, - he noted.
He accomplished his speech at the COSAC plenary session with supportive words to Ukraine hoping for the nearest victory of this strong nation so aspiring for freedom. “Support of Georgia to Ukraine is intact and unwavering. We stand by the side of the Ukrainian people despite that Georgia itself faces the greatest threat since our historical regions are long ago occupied by Russia. And speaking on behalf of the Georgian and Ukrainian people, I assure you that Georgia will never deviate from this path. I believe that this freedom-loving nation – our friend Ukraine will soon celebrate its victory”.
