Official Visit of David Songhulashvili to Ireland

David Songhulashvili, Chairman of the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee, conducted an official visit to the Republic of Ireland. During this visit, he met with various Irish officials and discussed several important topics.
Together with Georgia's Ambassador to Ireland, Giorgi Zurabashvili, D. Songhulashvili met with Ossian Smyth, the Minister of State at the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform responsible for Public Procurement and eGovernment. The discussion focused on the circular economy's effectiveness and Ireland's experience in this area. They also highlighted Georgia's commitment to fulfilling its obligations under the Association Agreement with the European Union and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement.
Another meeting took place with Jack Chambers, the Minister of State for Transport, where they discussed Georgia's logistical and transit potential due to its strategic location. They also touched upon ongoing negotiations to have Georgian driver's licenses recognized for all categories of motor vehicles.
As part of the visit organized by the Georgian Embassy in Ireland, David Songhulashvili had meetings with the Transport Committee, International Relations Committee, Production Committee, and Business Committee of the Irish Parliament. These discussions centered on the European Commission's positive recommendation for granting candidate status to Georgia.
Additionally, D. Songhulashvili spoke with Irish business representatives about Georgia's investment potential and the favorable business environment created by the government. They also discussed Georgia's advantageous geopolitical location for accessing large markets.
During the meetings, it was agreed that a delegation of Irish businessmen would visit Georgia next year to gain a better understanding of the investment environment.
