The Chair of the EU Integration Committee, Maka Botchorishvili addressing the EU Affairs Committee of the German Bundestag

With the special invitation of the Chair of the EU Affairs Committee of the Bundestag, Anton Hofreiter, the Chair of the EU Integration Committee, Maka Botchorishvili and Georgian MPs participated in the sitting of the Committee.
M. Botchorishvili delivered a speech and spoke about the Georgia-Germany productive cooperation, the European aspirations of Georgia and the steps taken in this direction, and the importance of the support of Germany against the challenges in the region. She underlined the EU integration progress and stressed the EU membership application submitted on March 3, and the timely fill-up of the Questionnaire.
Georgian MPs dwelt on the occupation of Georgian territories and the Russian military aggression in Ukraine, hence, the security challenges in the region, the necessity of strong support of the EU to Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova against this background, and in this context, the importance of granting the status of the candidate to associated countries.
M. Botchorishvili thanked the German colleagues for their support to the democratic development, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia and EU aspirations and noted that Germany, as a leading European economy and democracy, can play an immense role in this historical moment for Europe.
The sitting was attended by German MPs – Committee members Axel Schäfer, Johannes Schraps, Fabian Funke, Detlef Seif, Knut Abraham, Tobias Winkler, Gunther Krichbaum, Robin Wagener, Andrej Hunko, and Georgian MPs, Levan Karumidze, Teona Akubardia and Hermann Szabo.
