The Education and Science Committee recently conducted its offsite session at the Zurab Zhvania School of Public Administration in Akhalkalaki, where they received a comprehensive report from the school.

Ketevan Jakeli, the Director of the Zurab Zhvania School of Public Administration, emphasized the importance of providing quality education to ethnic minorities and discussed the implementation of recommendations by the Education and Science Committee in this regard. The report also covered ongoing processes and future plans of the school.

The presented report encompassed the implementation of all 45 recommendations that were developed as part of the study. These recommendations span various levels of education, ranging from pre-school to vocational and adult education. Ketevan Jakeli highlighted how the findings from the investigation help in refining work processes and addressing problems for further improvement.

The report also touched on the significance of inter-departmental collaboration for teaching the state language, with the hope that this cooperation will become more active in the future.

Givi Mikanadze, Chairman of the Education and Science Committee, commended the exceptional learning environment provided by the Zurab Zhvania School of Public Administration. He emphasized that similar centers across regions would enhance learning activities and effectiveness.

Mr. Mikanadze mentioned that the Zhvania school played an active role in the research conducted to assess access to quality education for ethnic minorities. He stressed the importance of discussing recommendations with the involvement of various stakeholders, including representatives from Akhalkalaki and Ninotsminda resource centers, schools, educational institutions, and local authorities.

The Chairman emphasized the Committee's focus on achieving tangible results and willingness to collaborate on initiatives to collectively address challenges.

Mr. Mikanadze extended gratitude to the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and the Good Governance Fund of the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office of the UK Government for their support in conducting the thematic research on this crucial issue.

The Education and Science Committee members are slated to meet with representatives from educational institutions in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region and visit the Samtskhe-Javakheti State University in Akhalkalaki as part of their ongoing activities.
