The Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee discussed the Bill on Creation and Management of Pshav-Khevsureti Protected Areas with the II Reading
The Bill, discussed by the Committee with the II reading, envisages demarcation of the boundaries of the protected areas.
According to the Deputy Environmental Minister, Nino Tandilashvili, the change shall be introduced to the Articles determining the coordinates of Pshav-Khevsureti National Park, Roshki Natural Monument, and Asi Sanctuary attributed to Pshav-Khevsureti Protected Area.
“Demarcation works are financed by KFW and German Government and aim at the withdrawal of the infrastructural objects from the territory of the protected area, which by their essence, do not comply with the system and the regime of the protected area, as well as the private land plots that fall under the restriction of the use as they are included in the protected area”, - the reporter noted.
Demarcation has been held using modern methods and field surveys and new coordinates have been established.
As the reporter noted, the Government intends to submit five more Drafts on demarcation to the Parliament.
“Demarcation of the protected areas has started by the Georgian Dream as one of the significant steps forward in terms of the environmental protection and collection of information. Now, the persons with the property included in the protected areas shall enjoy the full right to use their land plots after the enactment of the Law”, - the Chair of the Committee, Maia Bitadze stated.
