Givi Mikanadze Delivering Speech at PACE Subcommittee on Human Rights

The Permanent Delegation of the Georgian Parliament attends the spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
A member of the delegation, Givi Mikanadze, gave a speech at the Human Rights Subcommittee of the Assembly.
The MP discussed the candidates chosen for the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and the legal reforms implemented in preparation for the selection.
Givi Mikanadze also discussed the subcommittee's favorable assessment of the revision to the Parliament's Rules of Procedure in 2021 regarding the selection of candidates for membership in the Committee.
The subcommittee appreciated the Georgian applicants and their experience, for which the Chairperson of the Subcommittee, Lībiņa-Egnere, thanked the Georgian Parliament's Qualification Commission.
Tinatin Uplisashvili, the current member of the committee and selected as the top candidate by the Qualification Commission, was recommended for membership by the subcommittee, which was also endorsed by the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture.
