The meeting of Givi Mikanadze with the Ambassador of Israel
The Head of the Georgia-Israel Friendship Group and the First Deputy Chair of the Faction “Georgian Dream”, Givi Mikanadze held an introductory meeting with the Ambassador of Israel, H.E. Ran Gidor.
The parties discussed the historical relations between the countries and the Parliamentary links, stressing the Memorandum of Cooperation signed by the Speakers of the Parliaments of Georgia and Israel in 2015 during the visit of the Speaker of Knesset to Georgia.
As the parties noted, the Memorandum serves as a solid basis for further development of cooperation.
The parties discussed the 30th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the countries and the jubilee activities.
“On June 1, 2022, we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the diplomatic relations with Israel and thus, it would be preferable to plan certain activities at the level of the Foreign Ministries and the Embassies in both countries. The Ambassador approved the idea”, - G. Mikanadze stated.
He appealed to the Ambassador with the mediation to accelerate the nomination of the Israel-Georgia Friendship Group to ensure the communication and exchange visits. He also informed the Ambassador about the twin cities – Afula and Telavi and the Vice Mayor of Afula and the Governor of Kakheti region have already communicated and will sign the twinning memorandum after respective procedures.
“Twinning of these cities will further enhance the relations between our people and countries, which is important for our historical friendship. We agreed to intensify cooperation and I pledged my 24-hour commitment for further development of our relations”, - G. Mikanadze added.
