Khatia Tsilosani, the First Deputy Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, engaged in a meeting with Sofia Janjua, director of the Czech organization People in Need, to discuss various aspects of the draft law on Reducing Food Losses and Food Waste, as well as Food Donation. The focus of the discussion revolved around legislative amendments, tax regulations, and the social benefits outlined in the draft law.

"The organization, in collaboration with the European Union and the private sector, plans to actively engage in initiatives aimed at establishing food banks in the country. The primary objective is to provide food assistance to individuals in need, while ensuring food security and adhering to safety standards. As a pilot region, the organization is currently exploring the potential implementation of the project in the municipality of Tskaltubo”, - Khatia Tsilosani stated.

It is planned to adopt the draft law in all three readings in the autumn session.
