Members of Culture Committee Visiting House-Museums in Tbilisi
The House-Museums of Writers and Public Figures were visited by Eliso Bolkvadze, Chair of the Culture Committee, and members of the Committee.
MPs went to the house-museums of Nikoloz Baratashvili, Galaktion Tabidze, Kote and Soso Tsereteli as part of the occasion.
The Chair of the Committee praised the heads of the museums for their efforts, noting that the richness and pride of Georgian culture and history are maintained in the museums, and that it is critical that future generations have access to this heritage.
According to the Committee's Deputy Chair, Ketevan Dumbadze, today's museums are no longer solely for archival purposes, and new techniques have been implemented.
"When the museum is exposed to the public and you can see the epoch of time with which the museum is related, it is alive.”
According to Khatuna Kvitsiani, a member of the Committee, the Committee completely supports and shares the new approaches to museum growth.
"We applaud the fact that today's museums are multifunctional environments, because we no longer need a single reason to visit. The Committee will support the museums in achieving these objectives.”
