Levan Berdzenishvili participates in the meeting of COSAC Chairs

The Chair of the EU Integration Committee, L. Berdzenishvili participated in COSAC Chairs meeting opened by the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of Luxemburg and introduced the priorities of Chairmanship of Luxemburg. L. Berdzenishvili participated in capacity of an observer with special invitation by the Presidential Troika.
He spoke about political association of Georgia and EU and economic integration process. He underlined attempt by Georgian Parliament, in view to facilitate European integration, to apply all bilateral and multilateral Parliamentary diplomacy tools. He spoke about visa liberalization action plan and called on EU member states to support Georgia. He also emphasized occupied territories by Russia and in view of restoration of sovereignty and territorial integrity, he reminded importance of international support.
The EU Integration Committee is the only Committee amongst Eastern European Parliaments, managing association with COSAC and accessing EU member and candidate states EU Integration Committee Union. COSAC unifies the EU Affairs Committees of Parliaments of 28 EU member states and EP Leadership. The Union was created in 1989 when the Chairs of the EU constituent states agreed to enhance the role of the Parliaments in EU policy development. The Presidential Troika heads the COSAC. The presiding Parliament is the EU EU Council presiding state Parliament (Luxemburg at present). Participation in COSAC will allow Georgian Parliament to be more involved in activity of EU institutions which is one more step forward to EU integration.
