The Vice-Speaker, a member of the Political Group “Citizens”, Levan Ioseliani held a meeting with the Delegation of the European Affairs Committee of the Latvian Saeima.

The parties discussed the issues related to the status of the EU candidate member.

“I introduced the attitude of the opposition concerning the situation in the country. The Opposition has sent a letter to the EU administration appealing to grant the status of a candidate to Georgia as we informed our Latvian colleagues and dwelt on the challenges in our country, including in terms of the reforms, and that this status will serve as a trigger and leverage for the opposition to make the authority undertake various reforms, including in the judicial system. Latvia is a friend of our country and our Latvian friends pledged to do all in their power to convince the European Parliament that Georgia deserves this status”, - L. Ioseliani noted.
