At the EU-Georgia PAC sitting, Maia Bitadze overviewed the progress, challenges and prospects of Georgia in the environmental sphere within the EU integration process

Brussels hosts the 10th EU-Georgia Parliamentary Association Committee sitting attended by the Delegations of the European and Georgian Parliaments.


The Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, Maia Bitadze overviewed the progress, challenges and prospects of Georgia in the environmental sphere within the EU integration process. She dwelt on the significant reforms being implemented since 2012 by the Georgian Dream in view to establishing the environmental democracy.


M. Bitadze emphasized the importance of the EUAA for the above-mentioned fundamental legislative and administrative reforms. She introduced the priority directions of the Committee, including the climate-resistant urban development, circular economic support through the establishment of the encouraging mechanisms, development of the plan for the adaptation of Georgia to the European Green Deal etc.


She thanked the EU for its strong support to Georgia in the EU integration process and underlined the necessity of further support for the successful implementation of the ambitious reforms.


She dwelt on the main aspects of the reform in the State Inspector Service, system improvements in the sphere envisaged under the new institutional arrangement and formation of the effective institutions.


The sitting was attended by Georgian MPs: Maka Botchorishvili, Levan Karumidze, Maia Bitadze, David Songulashvili, Giorgi Amilakhvari, Eka Sepashvili, Levan Ioseliani and David Zilpimiani.
