Maia Bitadze, Chairperson of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, participated in an online discussion of private and public sectors on climate /green financing issues in Georgia.
The meeting was organized in cooperation with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the World Bank Group and its donor, the Austrian Ministry of Finance, the Parliament of Georgia and the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia.
The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has presented a recently completed Georgian market research on climate financing, which has formed the basis for discussing priority issues. Particular attention was paid to the transport and construction sectors. Priorities were identified at the meeting and further steps for joint work were determined.
"It is very important that representatives of different sectors gather here to plan future plans more effectively. The cooperation offered by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) as well as our other partner organizations is crucial for our country as we are in the active phase of the transposition of European directives. It is during this period that maximum support from the private sector is needed for them to effectively adapt to existing and acceptable legislation. I hope that the future plans we have together with the green economy will allow us to do much better in a very short period of time”, - Maia Bitadze remarked.
The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture, Nino Tandilashvili.
