Maia Bitadze Participated in the International Conference “Georgia Rubberized Asphalt Summit 2026”

Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, Maia Bitadze, together with the Minister of Infrastructure of Georgia, Revaz Sokhadze, and representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, participated in the international conference Georgia Rubberized Asphalt Summit 2026 (GRAS 2026), which was dedicated to rubber-modified asphalt technologies.
The conference was organized by the companies Tegeta Green Planet and Wasteless, with the support of the international technical partner, the Rubberized Asphalt Foundation (RAF).
At the conference, modern approaches to road construction and innovative technologies were discussed, which ensure the long-term durability of infrastructure, economic efficiency, and environmental sustainability.
Maia Bitadze addressed the invited guests at the conference and wished them success.
“It can be confidently said that today is the result of an important reform that we initiated back in 2015, when the Waste Management Code was established within the country’s legislative framework. Since that period, waste management has become a new direction for economic development, as evidenced by the fact that today we are discussing the recycling of tires as waste and their reintegration into the economic cycle, which represents an important step toward strengthening a green and circular economy”, - the Committee Chair stated.
She noted that the existing legal mechanisms will be further developed in the future, based on innovative approaches and active state involvement, which will create a solid foundation for fully utilizing the opportunities of a green economy.
The conference was also attended by international specialists in the field of road engineering, including the Chairman of the Rubberized Asphalt Foundation, Dr. George B. Way; the Chairman of Consulpav International, Dr. Jorge B. Sousa; and transportation engineering expert, Professor Shakir Shatnawi.
