Meeting of the Chairman of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee Lasha Tordia with members of the Association of the Azerbaijani Students of Georgia

Media and Society 23 Dec 2011

The Chairman of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee Lasha Tordia met with members of the Association of the Azerbaijani Students of Georgia (GATA). The students were at the supreme legislative body of Georgia. Before meeting with the Chairman of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee they visited the building and attended the extraordinary sitting.

GATA was created in 2008 and in it are the students of various regions of Georgia. The association is involved in implementation of different projects throughout Georgia, which set a goal of full integration of the Azerbaijani students in the society.

"The basis of the strength of our country is a unity of the people of all nations, who live in Georgia and participate in country’s development. Everyone should be entitled to participate equally in this process, without prejudice to their nationality. The future generation, amongst them you, must continue the processes, started several years before that is meant to lead us to the introduction of civilized and European standards in the country,” – said Lasha Tordia to the young people. As he stated, the country needs professionals, including, certainly, representatives of national minorities.

Lasha Tordia delivered information on the activities of the committee and answered the questions. He expressed hope that due to the peculiarity of the committee, cooperation with the youth of various nationalities will go on in future that will facilitate their integration in the society.

The Chairman of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee handed to Samira Ismailova, Chairperson of GATA, and the Certificate on Civil Integration on behalf of the committee.
