Mikheil Sarjveladze and David Matikashvili partaking in the ceremony dedicated to the International Personal Data Protection Day

The Chair of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee, Mikheil Sarjveladze and the First Deputy Chair of the Legal Issues Committee, David Matikashvili attended the ceremony dedicated to the International Personal Data Protection Day, organized by the Personal Data Protection Service.
The Chief of the PDP Service, Lela Janashvili opened the event and informed the attendees about the activity of the Office.
In their speeches, MPs underlined the importance of the adoption of a new Law on Personal Data Protection, as a key document for the efficiency of the sphere. As noted, the qualified enforcement of the Law is of no less significance, which is the process where the PDP service plays a principal role.
As for the Parliament, the organization aspires to actively apply all available oversight instruments and closely cooperate with the PDP Service.
The Public Defender, Levan Ioseliani also addressed the attendees, accentuating the prominence of personal data protection and increased human rights protection standards.
The ceremony was attended by the representatives of the state agencies, private sector, academic and scientific spheres and NGOs.
