Mikheil Sarjveladze Taking Part in 22nd Conference of the Central and Eastern European Data Protection Authority (CEEDPA)

The Chairman of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee, Mikheil Sarjveladze, participated in the 22nd Conference of Central and Eastern European Data Protection Authorities (CEEDPA) organized by the Personal Data Protection Service.
In his welcoming speech, Mikheil Sarjveladze highlighted the significance of personal data protection in the face of contemporary technological complexities. He also underscored the efficacy and modern standards of data protection outlined in Georgia's "Personal Data Protection" law, enacted on June 14, 2023.
"With the adoption of this law in Georgia, we align with international legal acts concerning personal data protection in the European Union, notably the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the implementation of the LED directive. I believe that the adoption of this law significantly contributes to the goal of obtaining Georgia's status as a candidate for EU membership, a historic milestone for the Georgian people achieved at the end of last year. I think that the adoption of the law positively impacts European integration, as it establishes a foundation for the European Union to recognize Georgia as a state with an adequate level of data protection, which is crucial”, - the Chairman of the Committee stated.
In summing up, Mikheil Sarjveladze thanked the Personal Data Protection Service, the head of the service, Lela Janashvili, for the work carried out to implement the law "On Personal Data Protection".
