Nikoloz Samkharadze: With the authorities of Jordan, we deliberated on the facilitation of the construction of the Georgian Culture Center at the site of the Baptism of Jesus Christ

Nikoloz Samkharadze, the Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, accompanied by the Committee members, visited the land plot on the site of the Baptism of Jesus Christ, designated by the Government of Jordan to Georgia for the construction of the Georgian Culture Center.
“During our visit, we engaged in discussions with the Jordanian authorities regarding the maximum level of assistance that can be provided for the construction of the Georgian Culture Centre”, - N. Samkharadze noted.
The Delegation members also visited the archaeological excavation site on the territory of the Georgian Monastery of the 11th century - Shihan and deliberated on the plans and the excavation details with the head of the local archaeological office.
“It has been historically confirmed that the Shihani Monastery was one of the monasteries established by Georgians in the Holy Land. Therefore, it is imperative to continue the excavations to maintain the Georgian cultural trace in Jordan”, - N. Samkharadze underlined.
Nikoloz Samkharadze is heading the Delegation, which is composed of: David Matikashvili, Chair of the Procedural Issues and Rules Committee and Head of the Georgia-Jordan Parliamentary Friendship Group; Irakli Kadagishvili, Member of the Foreign Relations Committee and Chair of the Regional Policy and Self-Government Committee; and Levan Makhashvili, Member of the Foreign Relations Committee and Chair of the European Integration Committee.
