The records on the occupied regions of Georgia introduced to the OSCE PA Annual Report with the initiative of Nikoloz Samkharadze

Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, and the Head of the Parliamentary Delegation to OSCE PA, initiated the records to the OSCE PA Annual Report on the occupied regions of Georgia.
The report reflects an amendment, according to which, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly declines every attempt to grant legitimacy to the elections held in the occupied regions of Georgia, including the Presidential Elections held in Abkhazia on March 2, 2025. These elections are not recognised under international law and constitute a direct challenge to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia.
The OSCE PA also expresses its profound concern regarding the persistent Russian occupation of the Georgian regions of Abkhazia and Tskhivali/South Ossetia since 2008. This occupation has significantly undermined regional security and necessitates Russia’s full adherence to the EU-mediated cease-fire agreement. The agreement stipulates the immediate withdrawal of Russian military forces to their pre-conflict positions, uninterrupted humanitarian aid access to conflict-affected regions, the safe and dignified return of IDPs and refugees to their homes, and constructive participation in the Geneva Talks.
Nikoloz Samkharadze and the Delegation members serve the official visit to Portugal to attend the OSCE PA annual session.
