Meeting of Nino Iobashvili with the DG Near Eastern Partnership Coordination Team Leader, Mate Csicsai

The First Deputy Chair of the EU Integration Committee, Nino Iobashvili held a meeting with the DG Near Eastern Partnership Coordination Team Leader, Mate Csicsai, visiting Georgia within the COEST Mission.
The parties discussed various aspects of the EU-Georgia relations. N. Iobashvili pointed out the historical importance of the European perspective for Georgia, implementation of the EU recommendations, progress achieved and the impeding challenges, as well as the cooperation in various spheres within EaP.
“Georgia enjoys the European perspective and is on the way to candidacy, however, it is important to further enhance cooperation within Eastern Partnership which is of utmost importance to the EU”, - she stated.
The parties overviewed the security problems in the region and the situation in the occupied territories of Georgia. N. Iobashvili condemned the visit of the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko to occupied Abkhazia two days ago and noted that it means the violation of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia and the breach of the Law on Occupied Territories of Georgia. She thanked the guest for cooperation with Georgia within various EU formats and for supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country. She hoped that soon, Georgia will enjoy a long-deserved EU candidacy.
