Meeting of Nino Tsilosani with US Experts on Forensic Examination of Victims of Violence

The Chair of the Permanent Gender Equality Council, Nino Tsilosani, met with the US experts of the SANE program regarding the issues of forensic examination of the victims of violence.
As Nino Tsilosani noted after the meeting, the model proposed by the US experts may, in our reality, serve as an alternative to the National Bureau of Forensic Expertise named after Levan Samkharauli. According to her, the problems related to the lack of female experts in the Samkharauli Bureau and the absence of experts in the regions can be solved with alternative supplementary experts and in this case, with the involvement of certified doctors.
"On the one hand, this will solve the problem of the number and qualification of experts, and on the other hand, it will protect the victims from secondary victimization, because the existing forms of expertise themselves in many cases cause great trauma to the victims of violence, and perhaps the implementation of such an examination in a hospital or by doctors in a calmer environment would be better. Program experts meet representatives of ministries. The National Bureau of Samkharauli also cooperates very actively within the framework of this project, and we hope that at a certain stage we will reform this system", - Nino Tsilosani noted.
