The Draft Law on Broadcasting approved by the Parliament

The Parliament adopted the Draft Law on Broadcasting with 77 votes, introduced by the Chair of the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee, David Songulashvili elucidating that the amendments eliminate the technical and contextual inaccuracies in the Law to further improve the regulations governing the media service and video sharing platform services.
The Draft specifies the legal definitions of “media service”, “video-sharing platform service” and “editorial responsibility”.
The amendments regulate the accomplishment of the sitting of the National Communications Commission and the reflection of information on implemented and scheduled activities in the annual report of the GNCC.
The Draft also specifies the issues related to the address to the Court by a person concerned in case of a breach of the law by the media service provider and establishes simplified authorization rules for the video-sharing platform service providers.
