Parliament Approving Changes to Rules of Procedure, Ensuring Increased Oversight Mechanisms in III reading

The Parliament discussed in III reading and endorsed with 88 votes the draft Rules of Procedure, envisaging the increased parliamentary oversight mechanisms.
"In order to give Georgia the candidate status, the second item out of 12 recommendations developed by the European Union provided for the increase of the parliamentary oversight mechanisms, its strengthening, and improvement. I would like to express my thanks once again for the fact that the involvement of members of the parliament in the preparation of these changes was high. It is important that the draft law was adopted in the first and second reading with the participation of all political groups and factions", - Irakli Kadagishvili stated.
According to him, for the third reading, the draft law was corrected only editorially. The document regulates the issues related to mandatory attendance of officials at committee sessions, the committee’s request to hereof officials regarding the attendance at the session; hearing of an official, and the submission of relevant documents by those in charge as well as the submission of a public report on the activities performed by the State Security Service of Georgia in the previous year by the head of the same agency.
