The Parliament approved the Draft Election Code

The Draft regulates some norms to be applied for the snap elections of the Parliament as of the day of recognition of the credentials of the Parliament elected in 2020 up to the day of the E-day with the proportional system, as well as the issues related to the set-up of the Advisory Group of CEC in the transitional period and execution of some procedures by the CEC by electronic means.
As one of the initiators, David Matikashvili elucidated, the Draft specifies some procedural issues related to the election process applied during the ordinary, by and snap elections.
“The Draft ensures uninterrupted holding of the elections and eliminates technical and procedural gaps, specifying the representatives of media at the E-day. The Draft establishes that in case of the termination of the credentials ahead of time of the PEC member in the second round, the Commission will have 17 members instead of 12. The candidate nominated in the first round elected by the same electoral subject cannot be the representative of the Election Commission".
The Parliament adopted the Draft with 82 votes against 1.
