Parliament Adopting Changes to Law on State Inspector

At today’s Extraordinary Plenary Session, the Parliament discussed and adopted changes to the Law on State Inspector with 81 votes.
The amendments change the title of the law into the Law of Georgia on the Special Investigation Service.
Besides, with these changes, the position of State Inspector and the Office of State Inspector are abolished to form two separate services: Special Investigation Service and Personal Data Protection Service.
The draft law defines the status of the Special Investigation Service, the principles and powers of its activities, the rules for electing the head and the early termination of his/her authority, as well as other issues related to the exercise of the powers of the Service.
The law also defines the issue of automatic employment of employees of the State Inspector's Office in new agencies.
