Members of the Foreign Relations Committee Delegation Met with the Chair of the Joint EU Committee of the Spanish Congress of Deputies and Senate

As part of an official visit to the Kingdom of Spain, members of the delegation of the Foreign Relations Committee met with the Chair of the Joint Committee on the European Union of the Spanish Congress of Deputies and Senate, Alberto Fabra Part, as well as with members of the committee.
The delegation is led by the Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze. The delegation also includes the Chair of the EU Integration Committee, Levan Makhashvili, and the Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, Maia Bitadze.
During the meetings, the parties discussed the security environment in the region, the situation in Georgia’s occupied regions, and the threats stemming from it. Particular attention was paid to Georgia–EU relations, including the challenges present in bilateral relations.
“We shared our vision with our Spanish colleagues on how to overcome the current difficult situation. We agreed that the present circumstances are not favorable for either Georgia or the European Union. We emphasized that it is essential to continue relations through dialogue”, - said Nikoloz Samkharadze.
The Spanish side once again reaffirmed its support for Georgia’s EU integration and expressed a desire to visit Georgia.
The meetings were also attended by the Ambassador of Georgia to the Kingdom of Spain, H.E. Alexandre Chkhuaseli.
