The Parliament served a minute of silence in commemoration of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom

“Queen Elizabeth II was a friend and supporter of the nations aspiring to freedom, including Georgia, our culture and people. Her passing is the greatest loss not only for the British people but for the world and Georgia”, - the Speaker stated at the plenary session, where MPs served a minute of silence in commemoration of the Queen.
The Speaker expressed his condolences to the Royal Family and the UK population: “Yesterday, the Queen of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Elizabeth II died aged 96. I express my heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family and the UK population. Queen Elizabeth II reigned for more than 70 years in a very complicated period full of challenges but she in a noble and dignified manner carried the highest royal title and was manifesting wisdom in reigning the country. She was a friend and supporter of the nations aspiring to freedom, including Georgia, our culture and our people. Her passing is the greatest loss not only for the British people but for the world and Georgia. I believe, her name will remain in history and in memory of the generations”, - the Speaker stated.
