Meeting of Salome Kurasbediani with the Minister of Environmental Protection of the Czech Republic

Salome Kurasbediani, Deputy Chairperson of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, held a meeting with the Minister of Environmental Protection of the Czech Republic, Petr Hladík, along with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Georgia, H.E. Petr Kubernát, and representatives from the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Czech Republic.
During the meeting, discussions revolved around the current state of relations between the two countries in the field of environmental protection and the potential for further enhancing collaboration in this domain. Notably, the participants reviewed the environmental projects in Georgia that have received support from the Czech Republic.
Moreover, the meeting addressed matters related to the draft of the Georgian Law on Chemical Substances and Compounds. Attention was also devoted to the implementation of Georgia's recently adopted water resources law, ongoing activities concerning protected areas, and initiatives aimed at addressing climate change.
"During the meeting with our Czech partners, we discussed ways to deepen bilateral relations in the field of environmental protection. We also provided an update on Georgia's progress in fulfilling its commitments under the Agreement on Environmental Protection and Climate Change Association. Additionally, we discussed the key areas of focus for our Committee's work. We explored opportunities for sharing Czech expertise in various areas, including waste management, water resources, chemical substances, and the assessment of hydrological and geological risks. I expressed gratitude to our Czech counterparts for their support on issues related to our territorial integrity, sovereignty, and integration into European and Euro-Atlantic structures. It's essential to maintain strong partnerships with like-minded nations as we work toward common goals", - Salome Kurasbediani commented after the meeting.
