Parliamentary Delegation headed by Irakli Beraia takes part in the NATO PA Spring Session in Luxemburg

The Parliamentary Delegation participates in the NATO PA Spring Session hosted by Luxemburg on May 29-22.
Georgian MPs are represented at the Committee sittings and hold bilateral meetings with the Delegations of the NATO member states.
On the first day of the Session, the Georgian Delegation held a meeting with the Delegations of Luxemburg, Germany and Italy. According to the Chair of the Defense and Security Committee, Head of the Parliamentary Delegation to NATO PA, Irakli Beraia, NATO PA is a parliamentary platform of high importance giving the floor to the NATO member and partner states to deliberate on security issues within Euro-Atlantic area.
“The Agenda of the Assembly is busy with topics, including the Russian aggression against Ukraine and its consequences for the security of the Euro-Atlantic area, NATO deterrence and defense posture, the Black Sea security issues, significance and future of NATO open door policy, and other security issues within the Euro-Atlantic area security sphere. Our task is to take advantage of the NATO PA platform to deliver information to the NATO member states’ delegations about the security challenges that Georgia encounters, the Russian occupation, the utmost importance of the increased pressure of the international society on Russia for de-occupation, the progress of Georgia at the Euro-Atlantic area integration path, advancing Georgia in the NATO integration progress, and further intensified support to the enhancement of Georgia’s security, defense capacity and resilience”, - I. Beraia noted.
The Delegation member, Chair of the Education and Science Committee, Givi Mikanadze underlines that Georgia enjoys intact support of the NATO member states at our path to NATO, which has been reaffirmed at the bilateral meetings with the Delegations.
“The corridors of NATO team with the conversations about the greatest mistake to not accelerate Georgia’s NATO integration and that Georgia shall come right after Finland and Sweden in the membership list”, - he stated.
“Euro-Atlantic integration of Georgia is our civilized choice. Participation in the NATO PA sessions acquire crucial value against the lingering geopolitical challenges and right prior to NATO Vilnius Summit. The Georgian Delegation, using every chance at the session and the bilateral meetings with the NATO member states’ delegations, highlights the importance of Georgia’s NATO integration and the aspiration of our country, our capacity and rich experience in enhancing the security of the North-Atlantic area and wider international scale”, - the Delegation member, Giorgi Chakvetadze noted.
The NATO PA plenary session is scheduled on May 22 giving the floor to the Prime Minister of Luxemburg and the NATO Deputy Secretary General; the agenda also includes the adoption of two declarations.
The Parliamentary Delegation of Georgia is composed of: Chair of the Education and Science Committee, Givi Mikanadze; his First Deputy Giorgi Chakvetadze; the First Deputy Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, Khatia Tsilosani, and MP David Bakradze. The NATO PA sessions are as well attended by the Ambassador of Georgia to NATO, Victor Dolidze.
