Shalva Papuashvili Met with the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Albania

The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, H.E. Shalva Papuashvili, met with the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Albania, Klodiana Spahiu.
Shalva Papuashvili expressed gratitude to the Albanian side for the visit of Archbishop Joan of Albania to offer condolences to the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II.
During the meeting, the parties highlighted the growing potential for cooperation between the two countries, both bilaterally and within the framework of the Western Balkans region. The shared aspiration for accession to the European Union and the importance of cooperation in this regard were also underlined.
The discussion additionally focused on issues of bilateral cooperation. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of deepening parliamentary cooperation.
The parties also discussed the two countries’ relations with the EU and NATO.
The meeting took place within the framework of the First Summit of Speakers of Parliament of the member and partner states of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), currently being held in Budva, Montenegro.
The parliamentary delegation, led by the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia in his capacity as the PABSEC President, also includes the First Deputy Chair of the Economic Policy Committee and Head of the Parliamentary Delegation to the PABSEC, Irakli Mezurnishvili.
