Meeting of Shalva Papuashvili with the Chairperson of the Lower House of the Parliament of Ireland, Seán Ó Fearghaíl

The Speaker, H.E. Shalva Papuashvili held a meeting with the Chairperson of the Lower House of the Parliament of Ireland, Seán Ó Fearghaíl.
As Speaker Papuashvili underlined, Georgia and Ireland proved to become close friends during the last 30 years. According to him, despite the geographical distance, Georgia and Ireland share a lot in common.
The Speaker expressed his gratitude to Ireland for strongly supporting the sovereignty, territorial integrity and the EU integration of Georgia.
As noted by Seán Ó Fearghaíl, the purpose of the visit to Georgia is to bolster the relations between the two countries. He overviewed the progress achieved by Ireland during 50 years of EU membership and underlined that Ireland wants to see Georgia in the EU.
Speaker Papuashvili introduced the progress achieved in compliance with the EU recommendations and hoped that the EU grants a deserved status of a candidate state to Georgia at the end of the year.
The parties overviewed the developments in Georgia and a wider region and expressed their commitment to further intensifying parliamentary cooperation.
