Shalva Papuashvili Met with the Speaker of the Slovak Parliament

The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, H.E. Shalva Papuashvili, met with the Speaker of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, Richard Raši.

The parties recalled their bilateral meeting held in Geneva in July 2025 and positively assessed the opportunity to continue the dialogue within the framework of the first official visit of the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia to Slovakia.

Shalva Papuashvili thanked the Slovak side for its firm support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

It was noted that relations between Georgia and Slovakia are developing successfully, as reflected in the intensity of high-level visits.

The parties discussed the further deepening of parliamentary ties. The importance of strengthening cooperation between the parliamentary administrations and sectoral committees was emphasized. Readiness to cooperate in the field of youth affairs was also expressed.

The parties also discussed cooperation in the fields of trade and economy, tourism, education, and culture. The launch of direct Kutaisi–Bratislava flights from January 2026 was positively assessed.

Richard Raši noted the decision of the Orthodox Church of Slovakia, according to which a liturgy in the Georgian language will be held once a month in Slovakia.

He also highlighted Georgia’s transit potential and underscored the importance of deepening cooperation in the energy and transport sectors.

The meeting also touched upon Georgia–EU relations. Shalva Papuashvili stated that Georgia is successfully implementing the Association Agreement commitments. He also noted that the Georgian side is always open to open dialogue with the European Union.

Richard Raši stated that Slovakia supports Georgia’s European integration and expressed readiness to share Slovakia’s experience.

The meeting was held within the framework of Shalva Papuashvili’s official visit to the Slovak Republic.

The parliamentary delegation includes: Vice Speaker of Parliament Ilia Injia, Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee and Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Slovakia Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chair of the Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee Mariam Lashkhi, and member of the committee and friendship group Rima Beradze.
