Meeting of Shalva Papuashvili with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan

The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, H.E. Shalva Papuashvili, held a meeting with Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, both parties positively evaluated the political-level relations and emphasized the significance of visits at high and higher levels. Rashid Meredov expressed gratitude to the Georgian side for their support of Turkmenistan on international platforms and reaffirmed strong support for Georgia's territorial integrity.

Discussions encompassed current areas of cooperation between Georgia and Turkmenistan. They highlighted achievements and future prospects for partnership development across various sectors including trade, economy, parliamentary affairs, transportation, energy, tourism, and culture.

Special attention was directed towards cooperation within international transport-transit corridors, notably the "Lapis-Lazuli" and "Black Sea - Caspian Sea" transport routes. Additionally, the discussion touched upon the Black Sea submarine cable project, where Georgia is expected to play a pivotal strategic role according to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Both parties underscored the significance of regional peace and stability in their dialogue.

The meeting took place as part of Shalva Papuashvili's current official visit to the Central Asian region, accompanied by a parliamentary delegation. The delegation, led by the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, includes Kakha Kakhishvili, Head of the Friendship Group with the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Chairman of the Regional Policy and Self-Government Committee; David Matikashvili, Head of the Friendship Group with the Parliament of Turkmenistan and First Deputy Chairman of the Legal Issues Committee; Irakli Mezurnishvili, Head of the Friendship Group with the Parliament of Uzbekistan and First Deputy Chairman of the Culture Committee; Baia Kvitsiani, Deputy Chair of the Education, Science, and Youth Affairs Committee; Anton Obolashvili, member of the Budget and Finance Committee; and Sozar Subari, member of the Agrarian Issues Committee.
