Meeting of Shalva Papuashvili with the Prime Minister of Hungary

H.E. Shalva Papuashvili, the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, held a meeting with Mr. Viktor Orbán, the Prime Minister of Hungary.


Speaker Papuashvili expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for his unwavering support of Georgia and highlighted the significance of Mr. Orbán’s visit to Georgia following the Parliamentary Elections in October 2024. According to Speaker Papuashvili, this visit serves as a testament to the strengthening of the unwavering friendship between the two nations.


Mr. Orbán emphasized that the bilateral relations between Georgia and Hungary transcend political and economic cooperation areas. He underscored the profound bond of brotherhood that unites the two countries, which holds particular importance in the context of global politics and recent developments.


The parties discussed the prospects of cooperation at both the governmental and parliamentary levels.


The discussion centered around the Frame Agreement concluded between the two legislative bodies. The meeting also addressed Georgia’s aspiration to join the European Union.


Speaker Papuashvili emphasized the paramount importance of adhering to the Association Agreement, which is crucial for Georgia’s progress towards EU membership. The parties reaffirmed their commitment to collaborating within international political platforms.


Mr. Orbán reaffirmed his unwavering support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and its aspirations for the European future. He expressed Hungary’s determination to further safeguard Georgia’s interests on the international stage.


The meeting was held within the framework of the official visit of the Speaker and his accompanying delegation to Hungary.
